AT A GLANCE...
Family sized freezer with a good spec, and can also be used as a chiller/fridge
On This Page:
A decent medium sized freezer from a well known brand that offers a family-friendly 252 litres of storage space for all your frozen essentials - plus an interesting party trick!
In addition to all the space, there is a fast freeze function, a front-drain port to make defrosting much less of a chore plus an internal light and lockable lid with a nice chunky handle.
This freezer has an unusual feature not seen on others - you can switch it between a regular chest freezer (internal temperature of -18 degrees C) and a fridge with an internal temperature of +4 degrees C. During the summer it would make a great chiller for your barbecue drinks or party nibbles!
Or maybe you have a home-based catering business where it would be really handy to keep your latest culinary masterpieces chilled and away from family fingers (lockable lid!) before delivering to clients.
A distinctive lipped handle is easy to use when hands are full of shopping
The interior light is a useful feature for night-time food runs
The comprehensive control panels include a temperature alarm
One moveable wire basket is supplied to keep things tidy
A slightly smaller version with only 200 litres and all the same features is also available OS1A200H21.
Got Your Back
Another interesting feature is what Indesit call 'clean back' which basically means that the back of the freezer has been designed to sit flush with the wall - in most other freezers it is important to keep an air gap for heat dissipation from the coils.
Although claimed as suitable for outbuildings, the manufacturers states the minimum operating temperature is 10 degrees Celsius so we'd not be happy at putting it in an unheated garage.
This freezer has a good specification for the price with so much space, a light and lockable lid. We're also happy to see two baskets! It's a bit of a shame it cannot be kept outside the house but if you have a decent sized kitchen or utility it's one to consider.
